On 28 August 2026, Thammasat University, in collaboration with the International Affairs Division of the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and the European Union Delegation to Thailand, co-hosted the seminar “Erasmus+ Thailand 2026: Empowering Thai Higher Education Institutions for Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) Funding” at Novotel Bangkok Siam Square.

The seminar aimed to enhance the capacity of Thai higher education institutions in developing competitive project proposals for the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) programme, while promoting international academic cooperation and institutional development.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Pennapa Kanchana, Inspector General of MHESI, together with Associate Professor Dr. Supreedee Rittirong, Vice Rector for International Affairs of Thammasat University, and Mr. Tom Corrie, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Thailand. The speakers highlighted the importance of strengthening educational cooperation between Thailand and Europe and emphasized the role of international partnerships in advancing the quality and global competitiveness of Thai higher education.

As a co-host of the event, Thammasat University played a significant role in facilitating key academic sessions, panel discussions, and networking activities designed to support future Erasmus+ collaborations.

Assistant Professor Police Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Katiya Ivanovitch, Associate Dean for Administration and International Affairs, Faculty of Public Health, served as moderator for the panel discussion on “Building Partnerships and Networking Strategies,” which explored approaches to identifying potential collaborators and establishing strong international consortiums for future CBHE projects.

Associate Professor Dr. Li Liang, Faculty Member of the Faculty of Public Health and Coordinator of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “THE-GLOW: Transdisciplinary Higher Education for Global Wellbeing,” participated as a panelist in the session “Sharing Experiences from Successful CBHE Projects.” Together with representatives from Mahidol University, Burapha University, and Siam University, the discussion provided valuable insights into project development, consortium management, implementation strategies, and lessons learned from successful Erasmus+ initiatives.

A major highlight of the seminar was the “Thematic Speed Networking on CBHE Priority Areas,” which brought together academics, researchers, and international affairs professionals from higher education institutions across Thailand. The networking activity focused on key Erasmus+ priorities, including the Green Deal, Digital Transformation, Sustainable Growth and Jobs, and New Skills. The session was facilitated by Mr. Naladkarn Moolthatham, Academic Officer, and Mr. Santiphot Muenkid, International Affairs Officer, from the Faculty of Public Health, Thammasat University, who also contributed to moderating the panel discussion on successful CBHE projects.

Beyond providing practical knowledge on CBHE proposal development, the seminar served as a platform for participants to establish new academic connections, identify prospective partners, and explore opportunities for future collaboration. Bringing together representatives from universities across the country, the event encouraged the formation of networks that could evolve into international consortia and competitive Erasmus+ project proposals.

The active involvement of Thammasat University throughout the seminar reflects the University’s commitment to advancing internationalization, promoting global academic engagement, and supporting Thai higher education institutions in accessing international funding opportunities. Through its contributions to both the academic and networking components of the programme, Thammasat University helped create a collaborative environment that enabled participants to gain practical knowledge, learn from successful projects, and establish meaningful partnerships for future initiatives.

The seminar welcomed more than 100 participants from higher education institutions nationwide and marked another important step toward strengthening Thailand’s higher education ecosystem. By fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and international networking, the event contributed to enhancing the readiness of Thai institutions to participate in Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects and further elevate Thai higher education on the global stage.
